No Praise is Adequate : An Update from Cornerstone Kennewick
Jesus, for so great a name, no praise is adequate! Iesus, tanto nomini nullum par elogium!
We praise God for His hand on the formation and continued ministry of Cornerstone Anglican Church in Kennewick,WA. Our parish was founded by Sudanese immigrants in the Tri-Cities. Our services have the joyful flavor of our African roots but we are gratefully connected to our Diocese of Cascadia and our Global GAFCON brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.
Founded in on Palm Sunday, 2023 with Bishop Kevin Bond Allen, Diocese of Cascadia and Bishop Andudu Adam Elnail, Diocese of Kadugli, Sudan (GAFCON), present, Fr. Art Moore was appointed by both bishops to serve as "Priest in Charge" to form, nurture and organize our new parish. On September 11, 2023, Bp. Keven Bond Allen received our self-supporting parish officially into the Diocese of Cascadia with 93 founding members. Fr. Art Moore (Rector), Fr. Yousif Kori and Fr. Nabel Kori make up the current clergy leadership.
On Sunday, May 18, 2025 our Bishop, Jake Worley, blessed us by Confirming seven and Receiving two from our Anglican church in Cairo, Egypt. This gives us total of 100 members. Kelly Worley, Diocese of Cascadia Women’s Union President, presented stoles (One year of Service) to Aziza Koko and Sima Karama with the prayer of blessing given by Bishop Jake Worley. We are grateful for our bishop and wife that extend so much prayer and support for us.

Cornerstone is actively involved in helping other Sudanese to form into new ACNA churches. With Bishop Jake’s recommendation, we welcomed Bp. Stephen Launge (Bishop of Multicultural Ministry, Anglican Diocese of Canada, ACNA) to our Palm Sunday Service. He and his delegation of 8 requested we help form the Sudanese in Vancouver BC into a new parish. Plans are in the making for several of our Cornerstone leadership to spend a week with them in June to help in this church plant.
Cornerstone is also helping an already established self-supporting Sudanese parish in Salt Lake City to join the ACNA. Their Rector will travel to Virginia in June to meet with Bishop Andudu (Sudan) who will direct them (with bishop Jake’s help) to one of our Western ACNA Diocese. Join us in prayer for these good friends that have traveled to be with us in Kennewick on several occasions.

We are actively involved in Anglican Missions. Our parish folks recently helped fund truck transportation and passage of 500+ persecuted Anglican Christians to flee war torn Khartoum back to the Nuba Mountains in the south of Sudan. It took 7 long days to travel through dangerous areas, rough roads, and the 600 plus miles back to the safer area in Nuba Mountains. This effort saved the lives of these very needy Christian Sudanese trapped in a brutal civil war. Pray for us as we continue to reach new immigrants and also local Tri-City folks with the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We are grateful for the move of God in our midst! The lyrics to “Days of Elijah” echo on our hearts:
These are the days of Elijah
Declaring the word of the Lord
And these are the days of your servant, Moses
Righteousness being restored
And though these are days of great trial
Of famine and darkness and sword
Still, we are the voice in the desert crying
Prepare ye the way of the Lord
All are welcome to our services! Please come and visit us as you find yourself in our area of the state!
